Def Leppard<\/strong> fans may debate which of their albums is better, 1983\u2019s <\/span>Pyromania<\/span><\/em> or 1987\u2019s <\/span>Hysteria<\/span><\/em>, but you won\u2019t hear frontman Joe Elliott<\/strong> picking a favorite.<\/span><\/p>\n

Elliott was asked\u00a0to pick a fav in an interview with the <\/span>Los Angeles Times<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/a>\u00a0and had a very diplomatic answer.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cObviously, the breakthrough was <\/span>Pyromania<\/span><\/em> \u2014 the memories from that tour of being this band that got out of a bus and walked into a hotel to being this band that got off the bus and we couldn\u2019t even get into the hotel because there were too many kids blocking the way,\u201d he shares. \u201cBut by 1987, when it\u2019s the second time, it\u2019s the\u00a0<\/span>second time<\/span><\/em>, you know what I mean? So what you had was the first and then the bigger.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

He adds, \u201cWhich of them is better? I just blend them together and go, The \u201980s were\u00a0<\/span>great<\/span><\/em>.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Elliott also shared his thoughts on Taylor Swift<\/strong>, who the band did a CMT <\/span>Crossroads<\/span><\/em>\u00a0with back in 2008. He\u00a0says\u00a0while nobody could have predicted the success she\u2019d have, \u201cyou look at it now and it kind of makes sense.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Elliott\u00a0says in 2008 \u201cthere was no such thing as what she accomplished,\u201d comparing her success to The Beatles<\/strong> and The Rolling Stones<\/strong>, noting, “for people born this century or in the \u201990s, this is a phenomenon that\u2019s never been seen before –\u00a0\u00a0technically bigger than the Beatles and the Stones combined, at least commercially.”<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBut I always knew she\u2019d be big. And for all the hardships she\u2019s gone though \u2014 the people who\u2019ve tried to trip her up over the years at certain parts of her career \u2014 she\u2019s just dusted herself down,\u201d he adds. \u201cShe\u2019s a fantastic role model for a generation of kids.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
