It was the first commercial studio owned by an artist.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Planning for the studio began in 1968. It was constructed specifically for Hendrix, who died just three weeks after its opening.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The studio went on to be a go-to spot for musicians, with artists such as\u00a0<strong>John Lennon<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>David Bowie<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Taylor Swift<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Lady Gaga\u00a0<\/strong>and more recording there.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">A new documentary about the studio, <\/span><em><span class=\"s1\">Electric Lady Studios: A Jimi Hendrix Vision, <\/span><\/em><span class=\"s1\">opened\u00a0in August in New York City.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2024, ABC Audio.
