The Beach Boys<\/strong>\u2019 Al Jardine<\/strong> recently released a new single, \u201c<\/span>Wish<\/strong><\/span><\/a>,\u201d which was inspired by his Beach Boys bandmates Brian<\/strong> and Dennis Wilson<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jardine tells <\/span>Rolling Stone<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/a> he first had the idea for the song about 30 years ago. \u201cIt just dawned on me how much I missed them,\u201d he said. \u201cDennis, of course, had passed, and Brian was pretty much out of the action. I felt very emotional.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

But it took until\u00a0this spring for him to finally\u00a0finish and\u00a0record the song with his longtime songwriting partner Larry Dvoskin<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a good message because right now we\u2019re all wishing that things were the way they used to be, especially at our age,\u201d Jardine says of the tune, \u201cbecause our memories are wonderful, our musical memories are intact, and it\u2019s just important to finish these great songs that we\u2019ve written.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Jardine\u2019s aim is for the song to appear on his next solo album, which will be his first since 2010\u2019s <\/span>A Postcard From California.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThis song is kind of like the appetizer,\u201d he says. \u201cI\u2019m actually working on a lot of unfinished tunes that are pretty close to being done. They come from all different backgrounds and fields of my musical endeavors over the years.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

He also plans to go out on tour with Brian Wilson\u2019s touring band. While\u00a0he says Brian \u201cisn\u2019t physically in shape to join us,\u201d\u00a0he notes, “It wouldn\u2019t surprise me if he could make a few of the shows in the Los Angeles area where we intend to do a trial performance.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
