Pete Townshend<\/strong> is\u00a0getting ready to drop another set of half-speed mastered vinyl reissues from his solo catalog.<\/span><\/p>\n

The latest will be the final set in the series, and will include 1989\u2019s <\/span>The Iron Man: The Musical By Pete Townshend\u00a0<\/span><\/em>and 1993\u2019s <\/span>Psychoderelict (Music Only),<\/span><\/em> marking the latter\u2019s first time on vinyl.<\/span><\/p>\n

Both albums have been mastered on limited-edition black vinyl by noted producer and engineer\u00a0Jon Astley<\/strong>, who’s also Pete’s former brother-in-law. The half-speed mastering technique produces superior quality vinyl LPs.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Iron Man: The Musical by Pete Townshend\u00a0<\/span><\/em>is an adaptation of the short story by Ted Hughes<\/strong>. It features performances from The Who<\/strong> frontman Roger Daltrey<\/strong>, bluesman John Lee Hooker<\/strong> and Nina Simone<\/strong>, and includes two songs that feature the then-surviving original members of The Who, Pete, Roger and John Entwistle<\/strong>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

Psychoderelict, <\/span><\/em>Townshend\u2019s last solo album, was structured like a radio play and featured dialogue, although the new half-speed master removes the dialogue from the original album.<\/span><\/p>\n

Both albums will be released Oct. 18 and are <\/span>available for preorder<\/strong><\/span><\/a> now.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

This is the third set of solo half-speed master vinyl reissues by Townshend. In June 2023 he reissued 1977\u2019s <\/span>Rough Mix<\/span><\/em>\u00a0and 1980\u2019s <\/span>Empty Glass.<\/span><\/em> In May of this year he released 1982\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>All The Best Cowboys Have Chinese Eyes\u00a0<\/span><\/em>and 1985\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>White City (A Novel).<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n
