{"id":30315,"date":"2024-09-10T15:02:52","date_gmt":"2024-09-10T15:02:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/on-this-day-sept-10-1950-aerosmith-guitarist-joe-perry-was-born\/"},"modified":"2024-09-10T15:02:52","modified_gmt":"2024-09-10T15:02:52","slug":"on-this-day-sept-10-1950-aerosmith-guitarist-joe-perry-was-born","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/on-this-day-sept-10-1950-aerosmith-guitarist-joe-perry-was-born\/","title":{"rendered":"On This Day, Sept. 10, 1950: Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry was born"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/syndication.abcaudio.com\/files\/2024-09-10\/ABCAudio_ThisDayInHistory_v03_ag.jpg\" alt><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">On this Day, Sept. 10, 1950 &#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Joseph Anthony Pereira<\/strong>, better known as <strong>Aerosmith<\/strong> guitarist <strong>Joe Perry<\/strong>, was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Perry, along with <strong>Steven Tyler<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Tom Hamilton<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Joey Kramer\u00a0<\/strong>and guitarist\u00a0<strong>Ray<\/strong> <strong>Tabano<\/strong>,<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>formed Aerosmith in Boston in 1970, with Tabano replaced by\u00a0<strong>Brad Whitford\u00a0<\/strong>in 1971.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">They released their self-titled debut in 1973, which featured the tune \u201cDream On,&#8221; which went on to be a classic and peaked at #6 after being reissued\u00a0in 1975.\u00a0Their third studio album, 1975\u2019s\u00a0<\/span><em><span class=\"s1\">Toys in the Attic,\u00a0<\/span><\/em><span class=\"s1\">was their first real mainstream success, thanks to the top 40 hit \u201cSweet Emotion\u201d and the original version of \u201cWalk This Way.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Future hits included a remake of \u201cWalk This Way\u201d with <strong>Run DMC<\/strong>, \u201cDude Looks Like A Lady,\u201d \u201cAngel,&#8221; \u201cLove in an Elevator,\u201d \u201cJanie\u2019s Got A Gun\u201d and &#8220;Livin on the Edge.\u201d They landed their first number one single with \u201cI Don\u2019t Want to Miss A Thing,&#8221; a\u00a0<strong>Diane Warren<\/strong>-penned track from the\u00a0<\/span><em><span class=\"s1\">Armageddon\u00a0<\/span><\/em><span class=\"s1\">soundtrack.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Aerosmith was inducted into the Rock &amp; Roll Hall of Fame in 2001, and\u00a0Perry\u00a0and Tyler were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2013.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Outside of Aerosmith, Perry has released six solo albums and three with <strong>The Joe Perry Project<\/strong>.
