Bonnie Raitt<\/strong> has a lot of songs in her catalog that fans will want to hear when she\u2019s out on tour, and she doesn\u2019t see that as a bad thing.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m lucky enough to have songs that people will be mad if they don\u2019t hear; that\u2019s not a drag, it\u2019s an honor,\u201d she tells the <\/span>Los Angeles Times<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/a> for an article about creating a\u00a0concert set list. \u201cI\u2019m still invested every time.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Bonnie says that while some artists like Bob Dylan<\/strong> will completely change up their set from show to show, it isn\u2019t as easy for her to do since she\u2019s constantly switching instruments during her concert. But, she says, she still\u00a0likes to swap out songs when she can, sometimes making the decision in the middle of a performance.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll have my guitar guy standing there with two instruments and I\u2019ll point to the one I want,\u201d she says.<\/span><\/p>\n

And while playing the same songs every night can get boring, Raitt says she\u2019ll change things up in order to keep\u00a0things fresh, although that doesn\u2019t always work. For instance, on one tour she performed her hit \u201cSomething to Talk About\u201d with a ska beat, which may not have gone over that well.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe had fun doing it, but I couldn\u2019t tell what the audience thought and you can\u2019t interview them about whether they liked it or not,\u201d she says. \u201cI think you\u2019ve got to keep those iconic songs pretty close to what people came to hear since they\u2019re paying for the tour bus.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n
