{"id":30327,"date":"2024-09-11T18:02:52","date_gmt":"2024-09-11T18:02:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/kansas-announces-new-bassist-following-billy-greers-retirement\/"},"modified":"2024-09-11T18:02:52","modified_gmt":"2024-09-11T18:02:52","slug":"kansas-announces-new-bassist-following-billy-greers-retirement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/kansas-announces-new-bassist-following-billy-greers-retirement\/","title":{"rendered":"Kansas announces new bassist following Billy Greer\u2019s retirement"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/syndication.abcaudio.com\/files\/2024-09-11\/Getty_Kandas_091124.jpg\" alt><figcaption> Daniel Knighton\/Getty Images<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Kansas <\/strong>has announced a replacement for their bassist and co-lead vocalist <strong>Billy Greer<\/strong>, who recently\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/C_lpwulJDN5\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>announced his retirement<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0after close to 40 years with the band.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The\u00a0rockers\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/C_s3qWcMUYK\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>announced on social media<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span class=\"s1\"> that <strong>Dan McGowan<\/strong>, who has already filled in for Greer at shows in 2024, will be taking on the gig full time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cI am thrilled and honored to be joining KANSAS,\u201d McGowan shares. \u201cI am also deeply aware of the gigantic shoes that I will be filling \u2026 I want the fans to know that I love the music of KANSAS, and I hold it in highest reverence.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">He adds, \u201cI am committed to doing justice to the band\u2019s incredible legacy, and I am so grateful for this unbelievable opportunity!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">McGowan\u2019s resume includes being the singer and guitarist for the progressive rock band <strong>The Tea Club<\/strong>,\u00a0who are set to release their sixth album this year. He also played with Kansas keyboardist <strong>Tom Brislin<\/strong> in his band <strong>Gold Rotation<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Greer\u00a0has been a member of Kansas since 1985 and appeared on seven of the band\u2019s studio albums.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2024, ABC Audio.
