While some musicians will insist they don\u2019t do what they do for the money, KISS<\/strong>\u2019 Gene Simmons<\/strong> isn\u2019t necessarily one of them.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a new interview with <\/span>Forbes<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/a>, Simmons was asked why, after KISS\u2019 retirement from the road, he\u2019s still doing shows with\u00a0the Gene Simmons Band<\/strong>. The journalist suggests it isn\u2019t about the money, but Simmons strongly disagrees.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI don’t like that phrase: \u2018It’s not about the money.\u2019 Money has been vilified and I take offense to that as a human being, sharing the planet with the rest of the people,\u201d he says. \u201cI’ve heard that phrase, ‘Money can’t buy happiness.’ That’s one of the biggest lies of all time.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Some KISS fans were upset that the band’s\u00a0final shows in December 2023 didn\u2019t include the original members of the band, and others were upset about\u00a0their planned avatar experience, but Simmons says he\u2019s \u201ctoo rich to care\u201d about that.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you’re worried about the next dollar \u2026 it’s funny what money does. You have to be kind and you can’t treat people badly,” he says. \u201cBut money gives you a really good buffer that if you’re going to be critiqued – and food for thought, not everybody likes Jesus, either – if you’re making up a new reality and well good Lord, if you’ve got a s******* of money around you, say whatever you want! I don’t know how else to say it.”<\/span><\/p>\n

He adds, “Fame, by the way, is highly overrated because one of the things that keeps eating away at fame is age. …\u00a0The more money you’ve got, the more you can bear it.”<\/span><\/p>\n
