R.E.M.<\/strong> is hoping to encourage fans to vote and get involved in the political process with a newly released compilation album <\/span>We Are Hope Despite The Times<\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Released to coincide with National Voter Registration Day, the digital compilation features 18 hand-selected R.E.M. tracks, with themes of activism and social responsibility.\u00a0Songs on the album include \u201cWorld Leader Pretend,\u201d “Fall on Me,” “Welcome to the Occupation,” \u201cDrive,\u201d \u201cFinest Work Song,\u201d \u201cTurn You Inside-Out,\u201d \u201cPop Song \u201989,\u201d \u201cStand\u201d and \u201cIts the End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine).\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

The name of the album is inspired by a lyric from the song \u201cThese Days,\u201d from 1986\u2019s <\/span>Lifes Rich Pageant<\/span><\/em>, where they sing, \u201cWe are young despite the years\/ We are concern, we are hope despite the times.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

With the release of the album, the band is urging fans to visit <\/span>vote.gov<\/strong><\/span><\/a> or <\/span>headcount.org<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0to register to vote or update their voting information.<\/span><\/p>\n

We Are Hope Despite The Times<\/span><\/em> is available now <\/span>via digital outlets<\/strong><\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n
