{"id":30417,"date":"2024-09-23T15:02:34","date_gmt":"2024-09-23T15:02:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/neil-young-plays-first-show-with-new-band-at-farm-aid-2024\/"},"modified":"2024-09-23T15:02:34","modified_gmt":"2024-09-23T15:02:34","slug":"neil-young-plays-first-show-with-new-band-at-farm-aid-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/neil-young-plays-first-show-with-new-band-at-farm-aid-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"Neil Young plays first show with new band at Farm Aid 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/syndication.abcaudio.com\/files\/2024-09-23\/Getty_NeilYoung_092324.jpg\" alt><figcaption> Gary Miller\/Getty Images<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The latest edition of Farm Aid took place in Saratoga Springs, New York, on Sept. 21.\u00a0<strong>Neil Young<\/strong> took the stage with his new backing band,\u00a0<strong>The Chrome Hearts<\/strong>, made up of <strong>Micah Nelson<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Anthony LoGerfo\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Corey McCormick<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">According to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.setlist.fm\/setlist\/neil-young\/2024\/saratoga-performing-arts-center-saratoga-springs-ny-7b546e48.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>setlist.fm<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span class=\"s1\">, Young\u2019s set included <\/span><em><span class=\"s1\">Harvest Moon<\/span><\/em><span class=\"s1\"> tracks \u201cFrom Hank to Hendrix,\u201d \u201cHarvest Moon\u201d and \u201cUnknown Legend,\u201d as well as \u201cLove Earth\u201d and \u201cHeart of Gold,\u201d ending the set with \u201cPowderfinger.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Young\u2019s show was his first gig since canceling his Love Earth tour with <strong>Crazy Horse<\/strong> in June due to health issues. He and The Chrome Hearts are due to play two more shows at The Capitol\u00a0Theatre in New York, Sept. 23 and Sept. 24.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Young\u2019s Farm Aid co-founder <strong>John Mellencamp<\/strong> also performed during the event, treating the crowd to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.setlist.fm\/setlist\/john-mellencamp\/2024\/saratoga-performing-arts-center-saratoga-springs-ny-73546e4d.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>such classics<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span class=\"s1\"> as \u201cPaper in Fire,\u201d \u201cCheck it Out,\u201d &#8220;Jack and Diane,\u201d \u201cRain on the Scarecrow\u201d and \u201cPink Houses.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Additional performers included Farm Aid board members\u00a0<strong>Willie Nelson<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Dave Matthews<\/strong> with <strong>Tim Reynolds<\/strong>,\u00a0 as well as\u00a0<strong>Mavis Staples<\/strong>, <strong>Nathaniel Rateliff &amp; The Night Sweats<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Lukas Nelson\u00a0<\/strong>with\u00a0<strong>The Travelin\u2019 McCourys<\/strong>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Farm Aid, which launched in September 1985 in Champaign, Illinois, raises funds to support family farmers.
