On This Day, Sept. 23, 1977 …<\/span><\/p>\n

David Bowie<\/strong> released the single \u201cHeroes,\u201d the title track from his 12th studio album.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

The song, written by Bowie and Brian Eno<\/strong>, failed to chart\u00a0on the <\/span>Billboard<\/span><\/em> Hot 100 and peaked at #24 in the U.K when it was originally released. After Bowie\u2019s 2016 death the song reentered the chart in the U.K., peaking at #12.<\/span><\/p>\n

Although the song\u00a0wasn\u2019t initially a hit, \u201cHeroes\u201d became a fan favorite and was a staple throughout Bowie\u2019s touring career.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is also the late rocker\u2019s second-most covered tune behind \u201cRebel Rebel,\u201d with The Wallflowers<\/strong>\u2019 1998 version becoming a radio hit,\u00a0peaking at #10 on the <\/span>Billboard<\/span><\/em> Modern Rock Tracks chart.<\/span><\/p>\n
