On This Day, Sept. 26, 1979 …<\/span><\/p>\n

U2\u00a0<\/strong>made their recording debut with the release of a three-song EP, aptly titled\u00a0<\/span>Three<\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The release featured the songs \u201cOut of Control\u201d and \u201cStories for Boys,\u201d which were both later rerecorded for their debut album,\u00a0<\/span>Boy<\/span><\/em>. The other song on the release was the B-side \u201cBoy\/Girl.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

U2, of course, went on to huge success, releasing\u00a014\u00a0studio albums and selling over 150 million records worldwide. They were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2005.<\/span><\/p>\n

Three\u00a0<\/span><\/em>was later reissued in November 2019 as part of Record Store Day Black Friday, to commemorate the 40th anniversary of its original release.<\/span><\/p>\n

U2’s last release was 2023’s <\/span>Songs of Surrender<\/span><\/em>, which featured reworked versions of previously released songs. They have reportedly been working on a new album, which frontman Bono<\/strong> has described as a \u201can unreasonable guitar record.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
