Actress Shailene Woodley<\/strong> recently revealed that she\u2019s been working with songwriter Linda Perry<\/strong>\u00a0to develop her voice for the\u00a0upcoming Janis Joplin<\/strong> biopic, and now Perry is sharing some more details on the film.<\/span><\/p>\n

Perry tells <\/span>Entertainment Weekly<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/a> she\u2019s \u201cbeen waiting decades for this movie to be made\u201d and is honored to be a part of it. She describes the\u00a0movie as \u201ca raw and honest look into Janis Joplin’s last days.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201dShailene Woodley\u2019s emotional commitment and dedication to Janis is inspiring,\u201d Perry adds. \u201cI believe her! Shailene lives for the art and I can\u2019t think of a better person to portray such a powerful, emotional, and complex artist.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Joplin died Oct. 4, 1970, at the age of 27.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Woodley\u2019s plan to produce and star in a Joplin biopic was revealed in early September. During an interview Wednesday on <\/span>Live with Kelly and Mark<\/span><\/em> she said she\u2019s been putting the film together for six years.<\/span><\/p>\n
