Peter Frampton<\/strong> is clearing\u00a0the air over comments he made blaming Megadeth<\/strong> for him having to cancel a show in Virginia.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

During his Sept. 19 concert\u00a0in Philadelphia, Frampton said he canceled his Sept. 17\u00a0show at Virginia Credit Union Live in Richmond partially due to weather and partially due structural damage to the stage, which he\u00a0suggested may have happened during Megadeth\u2019s soundcheck a few days before.<\/span><\/p>\n

Megadeth responded that Frampton was misinformed, saying they didn\u2019t even soundcheck due to damage to the venue\u2019s grid system. \u201cIt’s disappointing when someone you admire talks out their a** about you,\u201d the band\u2019s frontman,\u00a0Dave Mustaine<\/strong>, said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Frampton is now setting the record straight, telling ABC Audio his comments were simply a joke and he feels bad about it.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI sent them an apology. It was just one of those things that people took me serious.\u00a0… I made it all up just for the comedy,” he says. “I turned into Don Rickles<\/strong> for a minute there.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

And Frampton, who’s set to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Oct. 19, understands why Mustaine was angry.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIf I were Dave Mustaine and the guys\u00a0in Megadeth, I would be p***** too,\u201d\u00a0Frampton\u00a0says. \u201cSo, you know, he says I talked out of my a**. Well, yeah, that’s where it came from.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI didn’t mean any harm at all, but it was a very, very serious situation and I made light of it not knowing the facts,\u201d Frampton continued. \u201cSo that was a huge lesson for me and I apologized to them.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

As for Mustaine\u00a0saying he\u00a0admired Frampton, the guitar great notes,\u00a0\u201cHe is a good guy,\u201d\u00a0adding\u00a0that after\u00a0Megadeth finishes touring he needs to “take him out for a meal or something.”<\/span><\/p>\n
