Artists like U2<\/strong>, John Mellencamp<\/strong>, Sammy Hagar<\/strong> and more have taken to social media to pay tribute to actor\/singer\/songwriter Kris Kristofferson<\/strong>, who passed away Sept. 28 at the age of 88.<\/span><\/p>\n

U2 <\/span>shared a picture<\/strong><\/span><\/a> of frontman\u00a0Bono<\/strong> and Kristofferson, along with a\u00a0clip of Bono singing an a cappella version of the Kristofferson-penned tune \u201cHelp Me Make It Through The Night.\u201d They captioned the clip, \u201cKris, may you rest in the peace you offered so many.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mellencamp also <\/span>shared a photo<\/strong><\/span><\/a> of him and Kristofferson, writing, “Thank you for the time you gave us and the beautiful music you made. Your name is written in the stars.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

And Sammy <\/span>posted a picture<\/strong><\/span><\/a> of himself and Kristofferson on a boat showing off their catch of the day, captioning it, \u201cheynow old friend. I hope the fishin’s good where you’re going. we’re all gonna miss you. RIP.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Other stars\u00a0paying tribute to Kristofferson on social media include <\/span>Metallica<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, Green Day<\/strong>‘s <\/span>Billie Joe Armstrong<\/strong><\/span><\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>Melissa Etheridge<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Sheryl Crow<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<\/span>Russell Crowe<\/strong><\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kristofferson’s death was announced Sunday with a post on his\u00a0<\/span>official Facebook account<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, revealing he “passed away peacefully,” although a cause of death was not revealed.\u00a0Some of Kristofferson’s most\u00a0famous songs include\u00a0“Me and Bobby McGee,” “Sunday Mornin’ Comin’ Down” and “Help Me Make It Through the Night.”<\/span><\/p>\n
