An upcoming film about the legendary singer Otis Redding<\/strong> has found its stars.<\/span><\/p>\n

Variety<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/a> reports that <\/span>Star Wars<\/span><\/em> actor John Boyega<\/strong> has been cast to play the legendary soul singer with <\/span>Till<\/span><\/em>‘s\u00a0Danielle Deadwyler<\/strong>\u00a0playing his wife,\u00a0Zelma Redding<\/strong>, in the biopic <\/span>Otis & Zelma<\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The film, directed by Channing Godfrey Peoples<\/strong>, will chronicle the life of the famed singer, best known for such tunes as \u201c(Sittin\u2019 On) The Dock of the Bay,\u201d \u201cI\u2019ve Been Loving You Too Long\u201d and \u201cHard to Handle.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the description, the film \u201ccelebrates the 10 short years Otis and Zelma had together, and their eternal love story after his passing.\u201d Redding died in a plane crash in 1967 at the age of 27.<\/span><\/p>\n

The description adds, \u201cZelma\u2019s resilience and determination to preserve his musical legacy for the last 56 years fuels her, just as much as Otis\u2019 love for Zelma fueled him.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

In other Otis Redding news … the singer will be posthumously honored with a star on the <\/span>Hollywood Walk of Fame<\/strong><\/span><\/a> on Friday. He will receive the 2,791st star and is being honored in the category of Live Theatre\/Live Performance.<\/span><\/p>\n
