Alex Van Halen<\/strong>‘s given his first interview since the death of his brother Eddie Van Halen<\/strong>, talking to <\/span>Rolling Stone<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/a> ahead of the\u00a0Oct. 22 release of his memoir, <\/span>Brothers<\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the interview, Alex talks about\u00a0his reaction to\u00a0his brother\u2019s\u00a02020 death, telling the mag\u00a0it led to a diagnosis of\u00a0PTSD.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI shut down,\u201d he says. \u201cI was yelling and screaming. I was beside myself.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Alex also dishes a little dirt, blaming David Lee Roth<\/strong> for the collapse of a planned\u00a0Van Halen<\/strong> tour following Eddie\u2019s death.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThe thing that broke the camel\u2019s back, and I can be honest about this now,\u201d Alex says, \u201cwas I said, \u2018Dave, at some point, we have to have a very overt \u2014 not a bowing \u2014 but an acknowledgment of Ed in the gig.’ …\u00a0\u00a0And the moment I said we gotta acknowledge Ed, Dave f*****’ popped a fuse. … The vitriol that came out was unbelievable.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Roth did not comment on the accusation, although the mag notes Alex and David are still in touch.<\/span><\/p>\n

Alex says looking at it now he can\u2019t imagine touring without Eddie. As for former frontman Sammy Hagar<\/strong> playing Van Halen songs on tour with guitarist Joe Satriani<\/strong>, the mag says Alex wouldn\u2019t even say Sammy\u2019s name.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe heart and the soul and the creativity and the magic was Dave, Ed, Mike<\/strong> (Anthony<\/strong>), and me,\u201d he says. Rolling Stone<\/em> notes the only mention of the Van Hagar years in the book was\u00a0Alex\u00a0writing, \u201cWe had a lot of other singers over the years.\u201d<\/p>\n

Also in the article, Alex\u00a0tells <\/span>Rolling Stone<\/span><\/em>\u00a0that in 2001\u00a0they\u00a0almost got Ozzy Osbourne<\/strong> to front the band, but it didn\u2019t happen because he was in negotiations for the MTV reality show <\/span>The Osbournes<\/span><\/em>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Finally, talking about Eddie, Alex says, \u201cI just miss him. I miss the arguments. I live with it every day. And I can\u2019t bring him back. I can\u2019t make things right.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

But he\u00a0says he feels his brother\u2019s presence.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHe was\u00a0<\/span>there\u00a0<\/span><\/em>this morning,” he says. \u201cHe\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>fine<\/span><\/em>. Wherever he is \u2014 he\u2019s fine.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
