Peter Frampton<\/strong> will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on Saturday, and while he\u2019s been eligible since 1997, he\u2019s still surprised by the recognition.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know, I never expect anything … in my life,\u201d he tells ABC Audio. “I’ve just put my head down and worked. And those accolades that have come my way are always unexpected and very welcome, obviously.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Frampton was particularly amazed by all the response he\u2019s gotten to his induction, noting, \u201cI didn’t quite realize how many people out there wanted me, almost more than I did, to be in the Hall of Fame. … That\u2019s what blew me away.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Frampton\u00a0credits Sheryl Crow<\/strong> inviting him to join her onstage during her induction in 2023\u00a0for his induction, suggesting it\u00a0reminded folks about him.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI think that possibly people even on the board didn’t realize I wasn’t in already … which is wild,” he said.<\/span><\/p>\n

He also believes he benefited from changes behind the scenes at the Rock Hall, but regardless, he notes, \u201cI’m just honored that they thought of me this time.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

Foreigner<\/strong> is also\u00a0getting inducted\u00a0this year, and Frampton says that\u2019s particularly special for him, because \u201cwe share members”: Foreigner\u2019s Mick Jones<\/strong> played on his first solo record and Rick Wills<\/strong>\u00a0was part of his 1973 album,\u00a0<\/span>Frampton\u2019s Camel.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cWe’re just really excited to see each other and slap each other on the back,\u201d he says.\u00a0\u201cIf things hadn’t changed\u00a0… neither Foreigner or I would be in this year.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The 2024 induction ceremony,\u00a0taking place at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, will stream live on Disney+ at 7 p.m. ET. On Jan. 1, ABC will air the special\u00a0<\/span>2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony<\/span><\/em>, featuring performance highlights.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
