{"id":30630,"date":"2024-10-16T21:02:27","date_gmt":"2024-10-16T21:02:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/martin-scorsese-to-direct-film-of-all-star-robbie-robertson-tribute-concert\/"},"modified":"2024-10-16T21:02:27","modified_gmt":"2024-10-16T21:02:27","slug":"martin-scorsese-to-direct-film-of-all-star-robbie-robertson-tribute-concert","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/martin-scorsese-to-direct-film-of-all-star-robbie-robertson-tribute-concert\/","title":{"rendered":"Martin Scorsese to direct film of all-star Robbie Robertson tribute concert"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/syndication.abcaudio.com\/files\/2024-10-16\/M_RobbieRobertsonLifeIsACarnaval_073024.jpg\" alt><figcaption>Blackbird Presents<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The late <strong>Robbie Robertson<\/strong>\u2019s life and music is being celebrated with a tribute concert in Los Angeles Friday,\u00a0and now fans who can\u2019t make it to the show will\u00a0one day be able to experience it on the big screen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">It was just announced that director <strong>Martin Scorsese<\/strong>, a longtime friend and collaborator of Robertson\u2019s, is set to direct a film of the concert, dubbed\u00a0<\/span><em><span class=\"s1\">Life Is A Carnival: A Musical Celebration Of Robbie Robertson<\/span><\/em><span class=\"s1\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The concert, happening at the Kia Forum, will feature an all-star lineup that includes <strong>Eric Clapton<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Van Morrison<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Elvis Costello<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Mike Campbell\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Benmont Tench\u00a0<\/strong>of\u00a0<strong>Tom Petty &amp; the Heartbreakers<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Bruce Hornsby\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Warren Haynes<\/strong>, along with<strong>\u00a0Bobby Weir<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Trey Anastasio<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Noah Kahan<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Jim James<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Daniel Lanois<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Mavis Staples<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Don Was<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Eric Church<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Jamey Johnson<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Lucinda Williams <\/strong>and<strong> Margo Price<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Scorsese and Robertson worked together on several projects over the course of their careers, starting with Scorsese\u2019s direction of <\/span><em><span class=\"s1\">The Last Waltz<\/span><\/em><span class=\"s1\">,\u00a0the film about Robbie and <strong>The Band<\/strong>&#8216;s 1976 farewell concert. Robbie then worked as composer, music supervisor and music producer on several of Scorsese\u2019s films, including <\/span><em><span class=\"s1\">Raging Bull<\/span><\/em><span class=\"s1\">, <\/span><em><span class=\"s1\">The King of Comedy<\/span><\/em><span class=\"s1\">, <\/span><em><span class=\"s1\">The Color of Money<\/span><\/em><span class=\"s1\">, <\/span><em><span class=\"s1\">Casino<\/span><\/em><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0and <\/span><em><span class=\"s1\">The Departed.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Their most recent project together, <\/span><em><span class=\"s1\">Killers of the Flower Moon,<\/span><\/em><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0which was released after Robbie\u2019s Aug. 9, 2023, death, earned him a posthumous Oscar nomination.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2024, ABC Audio.
