Peter Frampton<\/strong>\u00a0will\u00a0be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Saturday, and he’ll also be performing on the show. He tells ABC Audio narrowing down what to play took a little bit of work.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

Frampton\u00a0says he was originally given\u00a07 1\/2 minutes to perform and opted to play just one song.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not a mash-up guy,\u201d he said, \u201cso we’ll do one number that is\u00a07\u00a01\/2\u00a0minutes long,\u201d although he didn\u2019t name the song.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

The folks at the Rock Hall offered him a chance to play a second song, but only gave him two minutes more. And while producers had requested a specific tune, Frampton instead opted for\u00a0one he felt more appropriate for the occasion.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThere’s another song that opens the <\/span>Frampton Comes Alive<\/span><\/em> album on side one,\u201d he said. \u201cThe first line is, ‘Who said it’s my year?’ So I said, \u2018How about that?\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

That song is \u201cSomething\u2019s Happening,\u201d with Frampton noting he cut it down from five minutes: \u201cIt seems like a sneeze, but it sounds good.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Frampton won\u2019t be alone during his performance; he\u2019ll be joined by country star Keith Urban<\/strong>, who he\u2019s known since his early days living in Nashville.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHe’s such a dear, sweet guy and a great performer,\u201d Frampton shares. “Wonderful guitar player, singer and songwriter.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Frampton is getting into the HOF after being eligible since 1997, but he\u2019s not completely satisfied: His band Humble Pie<\/strong>‘s\u00a0been eligible since 1994. When asked whether he’d like to see\u00a0them get in, Frampton said, \u201cYes, I would. And that’s part of my speech.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The 2024 induction ceremony, taking place Saturday at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, will stream live on Disney+ at 7 p.m. ET.<\/span><\/p>\n
