Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers<\/strong> guitarist Mike Campbell<\/strong> is ready to tell his story.<\/span><\/p>\n

The rocker just announced he\u2019ll release his memoir, <\/span>Heartbreaker<\/span><\/em>, which he wrote with Ari Surdoval<\/strong>, on March 18.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis is my book. It\u2019s the story of a poor kid from Jacksonville, Florida, who realized a dream through music,\u201d he <\/span>writes on Instagram<\/strong><\/span><\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s a long journey through hard work, dedication, and luck.\u00a0Playing guitar and writing songs has been my inspiration and purpose.<\/span><\/p>\n

“It\u2019s a story of hope, redemption, and gratitude, a testimonial that dreams can come true if you believe in yourself and follow your truth,” he adds.\u00a0\u201cIt took two years to write, and it\u2019s a labor of love. I hope you enjoy the ride!\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

Campbell and Petty performed together in the band Mudcrutch<\/strong>.\u00a0Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers formed in 1976,\u00a0with\u00a0Petty and Campbell joined by their\u00a0Mudcrutch bandmate Benmont Tench<\/strong>, Ron Blair<\/strong> and Stan Lynch<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/strong>They were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.<\/span><\/p>\n

In recent years Campbell toured with Fleetwood Mac<\/strong> from 2018 to 2019 and\u00a0fronted his own band, Mike Campbell and<\/strong> The Dirty Knobs<\/strong>. They\u00a0released their third album, <\/span>Vagabonds, Virgins & Misfits<\/span><\/em>, in June.<\/span><\/p>\n
