Tuesday marks the 40th anniversary of Bryan Adams<\/strong>\u2019 fourth studio album,\u00a0<\/span>Reckless<\/span><\/em>, which was a huge commercial success for the Canadian rocker.<\/span><\/p>\n

The album’s release\u00a0coincided with Adams\u2019 25th birthday and it hit #1 on the <\/span>Billboard<\/span><\/em> 200 Album chart\u00a0\u2014 to this day it’s Adams’ only #1 record in the U.S.<\/span><\/p>\n

But even before the release and the chart success, Adams knew <\/span>Reckless<\/span><\/em> was a good one.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI knew going into this record that I had something special,\u201d he tells ABC Audio. \u201cI knew that when we recorded the first couple of tracks for the record that we were on to something really good.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

He added, \u201cWe didn’t know really what we’d created, we just [knew] we liked it. And that was the test, you know?\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

The album spawned six singles, including\u00a0the #1 hit \u201c<\/span>Heaven<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u201d; \u201c<\/span>Summer of \u201969<\/strong><\/span><\/a>,\u201d which went to #5; the Tina Turner<\/strong> duet \u201cIt\u2019s Only Love\u201d; \u201cSomebody\u201d; and \u201cOne Night Love Affair.\u201d But for Adams, it was the album’s first single,\u00a0\u201c<\/span>Run To You<\/strong><\/span><\/a>,\u201d which went to #6, that was the standout.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe magical songs that came out of it obviously are the ones that were some of the biggest hits, and one of them, of course, was \u2018Run to You,\u2019\u201d he says. \u201cFor me, ‘Run to You’ was the jewel of the album, because … it just set the tone for everything.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

Reckless<\/span><\/em> went on to sell 12 million copies worldwide and is Adams\u2019 second-highest-selling record in the U.S. behind 1991\u2019s <\/span>Waking Up The Neighbors.\u00a0<\/span><\/em>The album went on to be certified five-times Platinum in the U.S.<\/span><\/p>\n
