It’s 2024 but you can’t stop The Beatles<\/strong>. What’s been called the “final” Beatles single, “Now and Then,” has earned a nomination for Record of the Year at the 67th annual Grammy Awards; nominations were announced Nov. 8.<\/p>\n

Released in November, \u201cNow and Then\u201d features vocals John Lennon<\/strong> recorded on a demo in the late ’70s, along with new contributions from Paul McCartney<\/strong> and Ringo Starr<\/strong>, and guitar parts George Harrison<\/strong> recorded in the ’90s during the sessions for their <\/span>Anthology <\/span><\/em>series.<\/span><\/p>\n

In that category, the song is up against hits from\u00a0Beyonc\u00e9<\/strong>, Taylor Swift<\/strong>, Sabrina Carpenter<\/strong>, Charli XCX<\/strong>, Billie Eilish<\/strong>,\u00a0Chappell Roan\u00a0<\/strong>and rapper Kendrick Lamar<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Now and Then” is also nominated for Best Rock Performance, along with records by Pearl Jam<\/strong>, Green Day <\/strong>and\u00a0The Black Keys<\/strong>. And in the category of Best Audio Book, Narration and Storytelling Record, one of the nominees is <\/span>All You Need Is Love: The Beatles in Their Own Words.<\/em><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, The Rolling Stones<\/strong>‘<\/span> Hackney Diamonds<\/span><\/em> is up for Best Rock Album, facing off against Pearl Jam’s <\/span>Dark Matter,<\/span><\/em> Green Day’s <\/span>Saviors<\/span><\/em>, The Black Crowes<\/strong>‘ <\/span>Happiness Bastards<\/span><\/em> and Jack White<\/strong>‘s <\/span>No Name,<\/span><\/em> among others. Pearl Jam’s “Dark Matter” and Green Day’s “Dilemma” are also up for Best Rock Song.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the Best Metal Performance category, Judas Priest<\/strong> and Metallica<\/strong> are both nominated: Priest for “Crown of Thorns” and Metallica for “Screaming Suicide.”\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

Legendary rock acts also appear in some of the more obscure categories. Dire Straits<\/strong>‘ Mark Knopfler<\/strong> is up for American Roots Song for “Ahead Of The Game,” and Little Feat<\/strong> and The Fabulous Thunderbirds<\/strong> are both up for Best Traditional Blues Album for, respectively, <\/span>Sam’s Place<\/span><\/em> and <\/span>Struck Down<\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Stevie Van Zandt: Disciple<\/span><\/em>, a documentary about E Street Band guitarist Steven Van Zandt<\/strong>, is up for Best Music Film, as is <\/span>The Greatest Night in Pop<\/span><\/em>, documenting the creation of “We Are the World.”<\/span><\/p>\n
