{"id":30824,"date":"2024-11-12T00:03:40","date_gmt":"2024-11-12T00:03:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/u2s-the-edge-gives-update-on-bands-next-album-weve-got-an-awful-lot-of-material-to-wade-through\/"},"modified":"2024-11-12T00:03:40","modified_gmt":"2024-11-12T00:03:40","slug":"u2s-the-edge-gives-update-on-bands-next-album-weve-got-an-awful-lot-of-material-to-wade-through","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/u2s-the-edge-gives-update-on-bands-next-album-weve-got-an-awful-lot-of-material-to-wade-through\/","title":{"rendered":"U2\u2019s The Edge gives update on band\u2019s next album: \u2018We\u2019ve got an awful lot of material to wade through\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/syndication.abcaudio.com\/files\/2024-11-11\/M_TheEdgeABC_092123_0.png\" alt><figcaption>ABC\/Isa Mae Astute<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>U2<\/strong> is\u00a0celebrating the 20th anniversary of <\/span><em><span class=\"s1\">How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb<\/span><\/em><span class=\"s1\"> with the Nov. 29 release of the shadow album\u00a0<\/span><em><span class=\"s1\">How to Re-Assemble an Atomic Bomb. <\/span><\/em><span class=\"s1\">And\u00a0while\u00a0that may be exciting, U2 fans are anxiously awaiting word on a new album \u2014 and in a new interview with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/u2-new-album-atomic-bomb-the-edge-interview-1235152643\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Rolling Stone<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/a><span class=\"s1\">, guitarist <strong>The Edge<\/strong> gave them a little update.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Edge\u00a0says\u00a0he created a lot of tracks and song ideas during the COVID-19 pandemic, and now they have to narrow things down.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cSo we\u2019re starting to go through some of those, and we\u2019ve got an awful lot of material to wade through to see what it is,&#8221; he said.\u00a0\u201cAnd I guess we\u2019re at that great honeymoon period of a lot of experimentation, and looking at all kinds of possible themes musically.&#8221;<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">While in the past <strong>Bono<\/strong> has said the next album\u00a0would\u00a0be a rock record, Edge clarifies, \u201cI think the guitar will be a big part of the next record, but I don\u2019t think it\u2019s going to be a heavy rock album. I think it\u2019s going to be a very different kind of use of the guitar, not a straight-up rock thing.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">He added, \u201cWe\u2019ve always tried to find ways to use the guitar that has never been heard before, and it seems that that\u2019s an important part of what gets us excited.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Edge also shared a health update about drummer <strong>Larry Mullen Jr<\/strong>., who had to sit out their Las Vegas residency after having surgery,\u00a0revealing they\u2019ve already done one session with him and &#8220;we&#8217;re having a great time.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cSo yeah, obviously we don\u2019t want to be over-doing it, but yes, it\u2019s going great and he\u2019s in great form,&#8221; he said. &#8220;It\u2019s lovely to spend time with him in the studio in a creative environment.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2024, ABC Audio.
