U2<\/strong>\u2019s Larry Mullen Jr.<\/strong> has teamed with pop star GAYLE<\/strong>, best known for the tune \u201cabcdefu,\u201d on a new song, \u201c<\/span>Between the Lines<\/strong><\/span><\/a>,\u201d which they co-wrote for the new movie <\/span>Left Behind<\/span><\/em>, <\/span>Billboard<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/a> reports.<\/span><\/p>\n

The film tells the story of the New York City mothers who fought to open the city’s first public school for dyslexic children; it\u2019s personal to both artists, as GAYLE and Mullen\u2019s son both have dyslexia.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI was really anxious that when I agreed to do [the song] that somebody who actually had dyslexia was involved and they would do the lyrics,\u201d Mullen tells <\/span>Billboard<\/span><\/em>. \u201cIt was just completely fortuitous and luck that myself and GAYLE kind of fell into each other.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Mullen, who is one of the film\u2019s producers, said creating the song with his two co-writers and GAYLE was “a collide of cultures, two different eras coming together. And the collision is kind of a beautiful one despite the musical differences.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Mullen only recently returned to music, having been sidelined by neck surgery that caused him to sit out U2’s residency at Sphere Las Vegas.<\/span><\/p>\n

“It was great to be able to do this track because I could play on it, whereas six months ago, I couldn\u2019t,” he said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Left Behind\u00a0<\/span><\/em>will premiere Jan. 17 in New York City.<\/span><\/p>\n
