Duran Duran\u00a0<\/strong>frontman\u00a0Simon Le Bon\u00a0<\/strong>was honored Tuesday with a Member of the Order of the British Empire at a ceremony at Windsor Castle. Prince William<\/strong> was on hand to bestow the honor, which recognized Le Bon for his services to music and charity.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cOn behalf of the band, and their management, we want to congratulate Simon on receiving his MBE this morning at Windsor Castle,\u201d\u00a0read a post on the <\/span>band’s\u00a0social media<\/strong><\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

News of Simon\u2019s\u00a0recognition\u00a0was first announced in June, with the musician <\/span>calling it<\/strong><\/span><\/a> \u201can incredible and totally unexpected honour.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

“It is fitting that the honour has been awarded not just for my role in music, but also for the work I\u2019ve been fortunate to be involved with outside the band for some of the causes I believe in,\u201d he said at the time.<\/span><\/p>\n

He also <\/span>thanked the band\u2019s fans<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, noting, \u201cI think it\u2019ll help if I feel that I can share the honour with you all. It\u2019s true to say that without you Duran Duran supporters, there would be no service to music; there\u2019d be no service to charity; there\u2019d be no MBE. So please, I want you to to feel the honour. Thank you.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
