Elton John<\/strong> could be in the running for another Oscar this year.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the movies that qualified for consideration in the Documentary Feature Film category, and the rocker\u2019s upcoming\u00a0doc,\u00a0<\/span>Elton John: Never Too Late<\/span><\/em>, is one of 169 films to qualify. The film debuts Dec. 13 on Disney+.<\/span><\/p>\n

Elton\u00a0previously won two other Oscars, both for Best Original Song, in 1994 for The Lion King<\/em> track “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” and in 2019 for the Rocketman<\/em> song “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again.”<\/p>\n

Other music docs eligible for consideration include <\/span>Eno<\/span><\/em>, about music producer Brian Eno<\/strong>;\u00a0<\/span>The Greatest Night in Pop<\/span><\/em>, about the making of “We Are the World”;\u00a0<\/span>Luther: Never Too Much<\/span><\/em>, about Luther Vandross<\/strong>;\u00a0<\/span>I Am Celine<\/span><\/em> <\/span>Dion<\/span><\/em> and <\/span>Indigo Girls: It\u2019s Only Life After All.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Also eligible is <\/span>Kiss the Future<\/span><\/em>, the Matt Damon<\/strong>\/Ben Affleck<\/strong>-produced documentary about the siege of Sarajevo, which features U2<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 97th Academy Awards will take place on Sunday, March 2, live from the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood at 7 p.m. ET\/4 p.m. PT on ABC. It will be broadcast in over 200 territories worldwide.<\/span><\/p>\n
