Yes<\/strong>\u2019 Steve Howe<\/strong> has now responded to the copyright lawsuit filed by musician Riz Story<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Story, whose legal name is Rudolph Zahler<\/strong>, is claiming Howe and current Yes frontman Jon Davison<\/strong> stole the music from his song \u201cReunion\u201d for the Yes song \u201cDare to Know,\u201d which appeared on the band’s 2021 album, <\/span>The Quest<\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a post on <\/span>Yes’ Facebook page<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, Howe wrote, \u201cJon Davison did not write \u2018Dare to Know.’ I did, and it was based on a theme I\u2019ve been developing since 1973.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cEarly versions can easily be found in our demo and studio recordings from the time and on the internet \u2013 some were released on an expanded version of ‘Tales From Topographic Oceans’ in 2002,” he adds.<\/span><\/p>\n

Yes\u2019 account then shared a link to a Soundcloud recording, which\u00a0they say\u00a0“demonstrates how Steve Howe has a version of this exact same melody in a 1974 recording (‘The Ancient’).\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The post notes, \u201cHere is proof of Steve exploring that very same idea in 1974 and it should be obvious that it’s much more likely the source of this melody.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Davison previously responded to the suit by his former bandmate Story, calling it \u201cutterly fictitious” and filled with \u201cblatant lies.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
