Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet<\/strong> does his own singing and guitar playing in the upcoming Bob Dylan<\/strong> movie <\/span>A Complete Unknown<\/span><\/em>, and apparently he had to learn a lot of the Dylan catalog to be ready for the film.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a new featurette shared\u00a0by\u00a0<\/span>Entertainment Weekly<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/a>, producer Fred Berger<\/strong> shares just how extensive Chalamet\u2019s preparation was for the role.<\/span><\/p>\n

“There are 40 songs in the movie that he performs,” Berger says. “On guitar, on harmonica, and singing live take after take after take.”<\/span><\/p>\n

The clip features behind-the-scenes footage of Chalamet performing as Dylan, set to his take on the Dylan classic \u201cLike A Rolling Stone.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

“It was important for me to sing and play live,” Chalamet says. “Because if I can actually do it, why should there be an element of artifice here? And I\u2019m proud that we took that leap.”<\/span><\/p>\n

His co-star Elle Fanning<\/strong> said she had \u201cgoose bumps,\u201d watching Chalamet at work, noting, \u201cYou can see how much love, and how hard he\u2019s worked and how much he cares about getting this right.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

The clip also features footage of Boyd Holbrook<\/strong> performing as Johnny Cash<\/strong>, Monica Barbaro<\/strong> as Joan Baez<\/strong> and Ed Norton<\/strong> and Pete Seeger<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a movie about music that is unadorned and authentic,\u201d the film’s director,\u00a0James Mangold<\/strong>, adds. \u201cYou could feel the thing working for everyone.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

A Complete Unknown<\/span><\/em> hits theaters Dec. 25.<\/span><\/p>\n
