Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet<\/strong> took vocal lessons in order to play Bob Dylan<\/strong> in <\/span>A Complete Unknown<\/span><\/em>, and his vocal coach,\u00a0Eric Vetro<\/strong>, is revealing what it took to get him there.<\/span><\/p>\n

Vetro, who also worked with Austin Butler<\/strong> for <\/span>Elvis<\/span><\/em>,\u00a0tells <\/span>Rolling Stone<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/a> that the\u00a0key was figuring out, \u201cwhat\u00a0is\u00a0the essence of this person? What makes their voice stand out?\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIn Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet\u2019s case, he\u2019s probably the definition of charismatic. I swear he has some kind of energy field around him,\u201d he says. \u201cWhen he walks in the room, everything just changes \u2026 I guess you would say it\u2019s that elusive It factor that everyone always talks about, but his wattage is just off the charts.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Vetro notes that as they continued to work on the character, \u201cI would see Timmy morphing into Bob more and more. Then he started, when he would come in, he would just start talking like Bob and there was no need to acknowledge it \u2014 it would just happen very naturally.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI remember the first day he walked in with a guitar and he had the harmonica holder around his neck. And I was struck by how natural it all looked,\u201d Vetro shares. \u201cIt looked like he had been doing this forever. Like it would with Bob Dylan.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

And with <\/span>A Complete Unknown<\/span><\/em> opening Dec. 25, Vetro is now tackling another iconic rocker, working with Jeremy Allen White<\/strong> on his portrayal of Bruce Springsteen<\/strong> in <\/span>Deliver Us From Nowhere<\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s going absolutely great. He\u2019s fantastic. I love working with him and he\u2019s really capturing it beautifully,\u201d Vetro says. \u201cThat\u2019s another case where we have to work on getting a safe rasp\u2014you don\u2019t want to actually damage your voice to get that sound.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
