A happy birthday goes out to ZZ Top<\/strong> guitarist Billy F. Gibbons<\/strong>, who turns 75 on Monday.<\/span><\/p>\n

Gibbons, known for his signature long beard, formed ZZ Top in 1969, recruiting Dusty Hil<\/strong> on bass and vocals, and drummer Frank \u201cRube\u201d Beard<\/strong>.\u00a0The trio released their debut album, <\/span>ZZ Top\u2019s First Album<\/span><\/em>, in 1971, incorporating a variety of musical genres, including blues, hard rock and Southern rock. They went on to release 15 albums over the course of their career, selling an estimated 50 million records.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

ZZ Top’s\u00a0most commercially successful album is 1984\u2019s <\/span>Eliminator<\/span><\/em>, which peaked at\u00a0#9 on the\u00a0<\/span>Billboard\u00a0<\/span><\/em>Album chart and sold over 11 million copies in the U.S. The album\u00a0included\u00a0four hit singles: \u201c<\/span>Legs<\/strong><\/span><\/a>,\u201d \u201c<\/span>Gimme All Your Lovin\u2019<\/strong><\/span><\/a>,\u201d \u201c<\/span>Sharped Dressed Man<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u201d and \u201cTV Dinners.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Gibbons was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame with ZZ Top in 2015.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

In addition to the band, Gibbons has had a successful solo career, releasing his debut solo album, <\/span>Perfectamundo, <\/span><\/em>under the name Billy Gibbons and the BFG’s\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>in 2015. He\u2019s also spent his career collaborating with other artists and has even dabbled in acting, playing <\/span>Angela’s rock star dad on the hit Fox series <\/span>Bones<\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Known for his live performing, it\u2019s no surprise Gibbons will be celebrating his 75th onstage. He\u2019s set to kick off his three-night Birthday Jam at the Troubadour in Los Angeles on Wednesday, where he\u2019ll be joined by a group of special guests, including Guns N\u2019 Roses<\/strong> guitarist Slash<\/strong>, Joe Bonamassa\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0The Doors<\/strong>\u2019 Robby Krieger<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

He\u2019s also set to launch a <\/span>solo tour<\/strong><\/span><\/a> with a two-night stand in Austin, Texas, Dec. 27 and Dec. 28, with a <\/span>ZZ Top tour<\/strong><\/span><\/a> kicking off March 5 in Dotham, Alabama.<\/span><\/p>\n
