Rush<\/strong> guitarist Alex Lifeson<\/strong> has been named this year\u2019s recipient of The National Guitar Museum\u2019s Lifetime Achievement Award.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAlex\u2019s playing has inspired countless guitarists to push the boundaries of what the guitar can do,\u201d HP Newquist<\/strong>, the executive director of The National\u00a0Guitar Museum, shares. \u201cIt\u2019s hard to even put his playing in a single category\u2014calling him a ‘rock guitarist’ doesn\u2019t begin to cover it. Catchy riffs, intricate instrumental passages, classical flourishes, jackhammer chords, brilliant tone … that\u2019s just the start of what Alex does as a guitarist.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Lifeson is the 15th recipient of the award and says he\u2019s honored to be recognized.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI fell in love with the guitar when I was eleven years old and continue my romantic affair to this day, sixty years later. It has been my voice, my lover and my partner on a lifelong journey, and we\u2019ve never had a single argument,\u201d he shares. \u201cI\u2019m grateful for this acknowledgement and fortunate to share the rewards that come with being a guitarist.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

Previous Guitar Museum Lifetime Achievement Award\u00a0winners include Jeff Beck<\/strong>, Eddie Van Halen<\/strong>, Buddy Guy,<\/strong> Tony Iommi<\/strong>, Bonnie Raitt\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0B.B.King<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n
