In 2023\u00a0Bruce Springsteen<\/strong> was\u00a0forced to postpone his tour with the E Street Band<\/strong>\u00a0due to a bout with peptic ulcer disease, but he didn’t stay away from the stage for long. The Boss returned to the road in April 2024, kicking off his rescheduled tour\u00a0in Phoenix, and\u00a0then spent a good portion of the year\u00a0touring, with the\u00a0trek hitting both the U.S. and Europe.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

He did have to postpone a few shows in Europe due to vocal issues, but that just led to him announcing another tour of Europe next summer.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

But that was only one of the many Springsteen-related highlights this year. Among the others:<\/span><\/p>\n

– In early January it was reported that a movie about the making of Springsteen\u2019s\u00a01982 album,\u00a0<\/span>Nebraska<\/span><\/em>, was in the works.\u00a0<\/span>Deliver Us From Nowhere\u00a0<\/span><\/em>will be based on the Warren Zanes<\/strong> book\u00a0<\/span>Deliver Me from Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen\u2019s Nebraska, <\/span><\/em>with\u00a0<\/span>The Bear<\/span><\/em> star Jeremy Allen White<\/strong>\u00a0cast to play The Boss. The film, directed by Scott Cooper<\/strong>, is currently in production.<\/span><\/p>\n

– In the middle of his tour, Springsteen flew across country from San Diego to Brooklyn to join Zach Bryan<\/strong> on stage\u00a0for two songs,\u00a0including \u201cSandpiper,\u201d\u00a0a collaboration between\u00a0the two\u00a0that appeared on Zach’s album <\/span>The Great American Bar Scene. <\/span><\/em>Springsteen also showed up at Bryan\u2019s Philadelphia concert in August, where they performed \u201cSandpiper\u201d and Bruce\u2019s \u201cAtlantic City.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

– Springsteen\u00a0made a guest appearance on the HBO Max comedy <\/span>Curb Your Enthusiasm<\/span><\/em>, in an episode in which star Larry David<\/strong> gives him COVID-19.<\/span><\/p>\n

– The Boss\u00a0was chosen as the next Academy Fellow of The Ivors Academy, the U.K. organization that presents The Ivor Novello Awards, which celebrate excellence in British and Irish songwriting. He became the first international songwriter to earn a fellowship, which is the highest honor handed out by the Ivors.<\/span><\/p>\n

– In June, Bruce celebrated the 40th anniversary of his iconic album <\/span>Born in the U.S.A.,<\/span><\/em> which spent seven weeks at #1 in 1984. As part of the celebration he released an anniversary edition of the album on translucent red vinyl.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

– In July, <\/span>Forbes<\/span><\/em> magazine claimed Bruce was now a billionaire, although he later denied the report.<\/span><\/p>\n

– Springsteen brought his live show home, headlining the Sea. Hear. Now festival in his old stomping ground of Asbury Park, New Jersey. He popped in during sets by fellow New Jersey natives Gaslight Anthem<\/strong>, as well as the Trey Anastasio Band<\/strong>,\u00a0with his headlining set filled with songs from the early days of his career.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

– He appeared on the tribute album for longtime New York City punk fixture\u00a0Jesse Malin<\/strong>, called <\/span>Silver Patron Saints<\/span><\/em>, contributing the song “<\/span>She Don\u2019t Love Me Now<\/span>\u201d featuring Jesse\u2019s band and\u00a0E Street Band saxophonist Jake Clemons<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

– Bruce\u00a0wrapped the year by giving fans a peek behind the scenes at his live show with the Hulu documentary <\/span>Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band<\/span><\/em>. The film had its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival. In the doc, Bruce\u2019s wife,\u00a0Patti Scialfa<\/strong>, revealed that in 2018 she was diagnosed multiple myeloma, a form of blood cancer, which has made it hard for her to perform\u00a0and is why she wasn\u2019t on tour with him.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

– And if all of that wasn\u2019t enough, The Boss also turned 75 in September.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bruce\u2019s bandmate Stevie Van Zandt<\/strong> also had a great year. Not only were he and and his brother \u2014 playwright, actor and director\u00a0Billy Van Zandt<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014\u00a0<\/strong>honored with a street named after them in their hometown of Middletown, New Jersey, Stevie was featured in his very own documentary.\u00a0<\/span>Stevie Van Zandt: Disciple<\/span><\/em> had its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York and debuted on Max in June. The film also earned a Grammy nomination for Best Music Film.<\/span><\/p>\n
