A Complete Unknown<\/span><\/em> director James Mangold<\/strong> has said in interviews that Bob Dylan<\/strong> gave his input on the film before it began production, and according to one of the film’s producers,\u00a0Peter Jaysen<\/strong>, that included\u00a0acting out the film with the director before signing off on the project.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBob Dylan had approval over the script. He had meaningful input. He met with Jim Mangold multiple times,\u201d Jaysen revealed during an episode of <\/span>The Town<\/strong><\/span><\/em> podcast<\/strong><\/span><\/a>. \u201cAt one point they sat there and they read the entire script out loud, with Jim Mangold reading every part and stage direction, and Bob Dylan only reading lines of dialogue for himself.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

He adds, \u201cThrough that process, [Dylan] sat there writing notes on the script. At the end of the last session with Jim Mangold, he signed the script and said, \u2018Go with God.’\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

But while Jaysen shared how important Dylan\u2019s input was, he also noted that the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer \u201cdid not have final cut\u201d on the film.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dylan has since\u00a0shared his approval of the film on social media, and Jaysen notes, \u201cThe Bob Dylan that everyone is seeing interact with the press through a few tweets about <\/span>A Complete Unknown<\/span><\/em> is essentially the same Bob Dylan that our movie focuses on.\u201d<\/span>
\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s an artist who cares more about authenticity and individuality and is not caught up in the hoopla of fame, fortune and all the trappings of success,\u201d he adds.<\/span><\/p>\n

A Complete Unknown<\/span><\/em>, starring Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet<\/strong> as Dylan, is in theaters now.<\/span><\/p>\n
