{"id":31127,"date":"2024-12-31T12:02:28","date_gmt":"2024-12-31T12:02:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/the-year-in-music-2024-foreigner-and-peter-frampton-finally-get-into-the-rock-roll-hall-of-fame\/"},"modified":"2024-12-31T12:02:28","modified_gmt":"2024-12-31T12:02:28","slug":"the-year-in-music-2024-foreigner-and-peter-frampton-finally-get-into-the-rock-roll-hall-of-fame","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/the-year-in-music-2024-foreigner-and-peter-frampton-finally-get-into-the-rock-roll-hall-of-fame\/","title":{"rendered":"The Year in Music 2024: Foreigner and Peter Frampton finally get into the Rock &amp; Roll Hall of Fame"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/syndication.abcaudio.com\/files\/2024-12-26\/ABC_Audio_TheYearInMusic_2024_v02_ag_6.jpg\" alt><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">For years music fans have wondered when <strong>Foreigner<\/strong> and <strong>Peter Frampton<\/strong> were going to get recognized by the Rock &amp; Roll Hall of Fame, and this year they got their answer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Both Foreigner,\u00a0which has been eligible since 2002, and Frampton, who&#8217;s been eligible since 1997, finally got chosen for induction, thanks to not only fan support but the backing of some big-name\u00a0artists\u00a0\u2014 especially in the case of Foreigner.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">That was evident when producer\u00a0<strong>Mark Ronson<\/strong>, stepson of Foreigner founder <strong>Mick Jones<\/strong>, put together a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/C3lJxeQvPUX\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;ig_rid=d57e4992-d399-4e2b-9731-1eea039275d3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>star-studded video<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span class=\"s1\"> pushing for\u00a0the band&#8217;s induction, with <strong>Foo Fighters<\/strong>\u2019 <strong>Dave Grohl<\/strong>, <strong>Queens of the Stone Age<\/strong>\u2019s <strong>Josh Homme<\/strong>, <strong>Guns<\/strong> <strong>N\u2019 Roses<\/strong>\u00a0guitarist\u00a0<strong>Slash<\/strong>,<strong> Red Hot Chili Peppers <\/strong>drummer<strong> Chad Smith<\/strong>\u00a0and even <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ForeignerMusic\/status\/1762534582807920976\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Paul McCartney<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0among the artists featured in the clip.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">At the induction, which took place in October in Cleveland, <strong>Sammy Hagar<\/strong> welcomed Foreigner into the Rock Hall and performed in their honor, with\u00a0Slash,<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Smith and\u00a0<strong>Demi Lovato<\/strong>\u00a0performing, as well. Foreigner\u2019s original frontman,\u00a0<strong>Lou Gramm<\/strong>, also performed, teaming with <strong>Kelly Clarkson<\/strong> for \u201cI Want To Know What Love Is,\u201d although prior to the show he made it publicly known he wasn\u2019t happy with the song choice.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">And while\u00a0the night certainly was a celebration for Gramm, <strong>Al Green<\/strong> and <strong>Rick Wills<\/strong>, absent from the festivities were original members <strong>Mick Jones<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Dennis Elliott<\/strong>. While Jones skipped the event because of his health \u2014 he revealed in 2024 that he has Parkinson\u2019s disease \u2014 Elliott claimed he didn\u2019t\u00a0go because he received the schedule too late.\u00a0However,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/rock\/foreigner-rock-hall-induction-2024-mick-jones-dennis-elliott-absent-1235804929\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em><strong>Billboard<\/strong><\/em><\/a> claimed it was because his wife wasn\u2019t allowed to walk the red carpet.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">As for Frampton, he was inducted by<strong> The Who<\/strong>\u2019s <strong>Roger Daltrey<\/strong>\u00a0and performed two songs, &#8220;Something&#8217;s Happening&#8221; and a particularly shred-heavy version of &#8220;Do You Feel Like We Do&#8221; alongside\u00a0<strong>Keith Urban<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">This year\u2019s other inductees were\u00a0<strong>Ozzy Osbourne<\/strong>, <strong>Cher<\/strong>, <strong>Kool &amp; The Gang<\/strong>, <strong>Dave Matthews Band<\/strong> and <strong>Mary J. Blige<\/strong>. The\u00a0late <strong>Jimmy Buffett<\/strong>,<strong>\u00a0Dionne Warwick<\/strong>, <strong>MC5<\/strong> and Motown producer\/songwriter\u00a0<strong>Norman Whitfield<\/strong>\u00a0were inducted in the Music Excellence category.\u00a0R&amp;B singer\u00a0<strong>Big Mama Thornton<\/strong>, as well as British blues musicians\u00a0<strong>John Mayall\u00a0<\/strong>and the late\u00a0<strong>Alexis Korner<\/strong>, got in for Musical Influence.<\/p>\n<p>The entire event aired live on Disney+, but if you missed the celebration you can catch a highlight show, <em>2024 Rock &amp; Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony<\/em>, Jan. 1 on ABC.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2024, ABC Audio.
