When Alex Van Halen<\/strong> released his memoir,\u00a0<\/span>Brothers<\/span><\/em>,\u00a0in October, the book failed to include anything about the Sammy Hagar<\/strong>\u00a0years of Van Halen<\/strong>,\u00a0with Alex only writing, \u201c[W]e had a lot of other singers over the years.”<\/span><\/p>\n

In fact, in an interview with <\/span>Rolling Stone<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/a> he insisted that when it\u00a0comes\u00a0to Van Halen, \u201cthe heart and the soul and the creativity and the magic was Dave, Ed, Mike and me,\u201d referring to the band\u2019s original members, him and brother Eddie Van Halen<\/strong>, frontman David Lee Roth<\/strong> and bassist Michael Anthony<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Well, Sammy appears to be clapping back at Alex\u2019s disregard for his contribution to the band.<\/span><\/p>\n

The rocker made his feelings known in the comments section of an <\/span>Instagram post<\/strong><\/span><\/a> featuring a picture of him and Eddie, which he captioned \u201cwalking to the stage in the good old days.\u00a0<\/span>#1990s<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>#vanhalen<\/span>\u00a0I needed to see this photo today to close out this year.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The post spawned a few comments from fans, with one sharing, \u201cNo disrespect to Alex but it\u2019s ok to like VH with Sammy, even if he doesn\u2019t anymore,\u201d while another countered with, \u201cMost purists believe VH ended with DLR.”<\/span><\/p>\n

The latter post prompted Hagar to\u00a0argue why that’s not true, writing, \u201cIt could have my friend, but instead we went on to sell over 50 million records for (sic)\u00a0No. 1 album(s)\u00a0 sold out every building and stadium in the world for a whole decade. That never happened again.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

He added, \u201cAlex is not doing his brother\u2019s musical legacy justice by not acknowledging all the No. 1 albums and some great music Eddie and I wrote together \u2013 not Alex \u2013 but Eddie and I wrote together. To not acknowledge 10 years of music is blasphemy to his brother\u2019s musicianship, songwriting & legacy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
