It sounds like we may be getting new music from U2<\/strong> this year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Guitarist The Edge<\/strong> appeared on the <\/span>Sodajerker on Songwriting<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/a> podcast to talk about\u00a0the band’s\u00a0recent 20th anniversary reissue of <\/span>How to Dismantle An Atomic Bomb<\/span><\/em> and\u00a0its accompanying shadow album. While\u00a0talking about how the band works together in the studio, he let it slip that a new song may be on the way.<\/span><\/p>\n

Edge noted that he and his bandmates \u2014\u00a0Bono<\/strong>, Adam Clayton<\/strong> and Larry Mullen Jr<\/strong>. \u2014 are “lucky” because they still enjoy being together in the studio.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe never turned it into work. We\u2019ve always had fun,\u201d he said. \u201cI just love making music and it\u2019s still a thrill being around Adam and Larry and Bono when we\u2019re working together.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I have to tell you, we\u2019re working on a lot of new songs,\u201d he then shared. \u201cThere might be a new U2 song happening very soon, which you\u2019ll hear about.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The Edge didn\u2019t offer any details though, noting, \u201cCan\u2019t say any more than that, but we\u2019re in a great place creatively.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

If we do get a new song from U2 this year, it will be their first new track since\u00a0they released \u201cAtomic City\u201d in 2023, ahead of their Las Vegas residency at the Sphere. Their last album of new material, <\/span>Songs of Experience<\/span><\/em>, came out in 2017.<\/span><\/p>\n
