While The Beatles<\/strong> broke up in 1970, they’re still very much part of popular culture, with the past few years seeing the release of Peter Jackson<\/strong>\u2019s <\/span>Got Back<\/span><\/em> docuseries, the recent documentary <\/span>Beatles \u201964<\/span><\/em>, their final new song, \u201cNow and Then,\u201d and more. And while Julian Lennon<\/strong> may be Beatle\u00a0John Lennon<\/strong>\u2019s son, he says he\u2019s usually out of the loop when it comes to new projects associated with the band.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s news to me half the time. I\u2019m not part of the inner circle \u2013 I never have been,\u201d he tells <\/span>The Guardian<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/a>\u00a0in a new interview. \u201cYou have to realize that when Dad left, when I was between three and five (it was a bit of a process), it was just mum and me, and we had nothing to do with the Beatles or Dad. I visited him on the odd occasion but we were very much on the outside.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

He adds that what\u00a0inside info he does get, he gets from\u00a0his younger brother Sean Ono Lennon<\/strong>, noting, \u201cI\u2019m thankful that Sean and I get on like a house on fire \u2013 we\u2019re best buddies and he tells me what he can, but things are pretty secret on the Beatles front.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Julian\u00a0says that while it may be \u201cextraordinarily strange,\u201d he isn\u2019t \u201cupset about it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d rather be excited and impressed by what they did and continue to do,\u201d he says. \u201cAs a fan, I\u2019m just as curious as anybody else, although I do find myself going, \u2018how is it possible that there\u2019s another Beatles film?’\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

And he\u2019ll have to get used to that because not only is there another Beatles film coming up, there are going to be four of them. Sam Mendes<\/strong> is planning to direct four new films on the band, one for each member of the group.<\/span><\/p>\n
