Blondie<\/strong>‘s\u00a0Debbie Harry<\/strong>\u00a0will turn 80 in July. So, how does she feel about celebrating such a milestone birthday?<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t walk around thinking every minute, oh my God, I\u2019m going be 80 \u2014 but that\u2019s sort of how I feel,\u201d she tells the U.K.\u00a0paper <\/span>The Times<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/a>. \u201cMy mother used to say in her head she was 25 and I\u2019m the same. But thinking about it all the time could be your downfall.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I don\u2019t really want the same kind of life I did when I was younger. I\u2019ve done that!\u201d she says. \u201cThat\u2019s the beauty of aging \u2014 you know what it\u2019s about. You have it in your heart and soul and your memory bank \u2026 or does that sound like an excuse? Should I go out and party every night?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Harry does plan to celebrate her big day but she says it may be a little bittersweet.<\/span><\/p>\n

“I\u2019m going to have a whopping great party with everyone there,” she says. “Though one of the bad things about aging is everyone\u2019s gone already.”<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIn the 1980s, or maybe 1990s, there was a show at CBGB\u2019s gallery. I went around the room and 50\u00a0[percent] of the musicians in the photos were gone and that was years ago,” she says. “It\u2019s what they call diminishing returns.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

But just because she’ll be 80 doesn’t mean Harry will slow down. In fact, Blondie’s Chris Stein<\/strong> <\/span>has shared<\/strong><\/span><\/a> that the band is in the studio, with a new album expected this year.<\/span><\/p>\n
