The life of the late Allman Brothers Band<\/strong> guitarist and co-founder Dickey Betts<\/strong> will be celebrated in February with an all-star concert taking place in Macon, Georgia — the birthplace of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame group.<\/p>\n

In Memory of Dickey Betts<\/span><\/em> will take place Feb. 28 at the Macon City Auditorium, with a lineup that includes many musicians who\u2019ve been associated with the Allman Brothers over the years, including ABB’s\u00a0Jaimoe<\/strong>, Warren Haynes,<\/strong> Chuck Leavell<\/strong>, Susan Tedeschi<\/strong>, and\u00a0Oteil Burbriddge<\/strong>, as well as Dickey\u2019s son Duane Betts<\/strong>, Gregg Allman<\/strong>\u2019s son Devon Allman<\/strong> and more.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cFor so many of us, Dad’s gift to the world was music,\u201d Duane shares.\u00a0<\/strong>\u201cI’m so happy to come together with some very special friends to honor the depth and beauty of his life and, of course, to share that sweet, melodic sound he is so well known for.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to his guitar work for the Allmans, Betts wrote and sang two of their best-known songs: “Ramblin’ Man” and “Blue Sky.”\u00a0 He also wrote their popular instrumental track, “Jessica.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Tickets for the concert <\/span>go on sale<\/strong><\/span><\/a> Monday at 10 a.m., with a portion of the proceeds going to furthering education in honor of Dickey.<\/span><\/p>\n
