{"id":31260,"date":"2025-01-20T18:02:32","date_gmt":"2025-01-20T18:02:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/bruce-springsteen-makes-surprise-appearance-at-25th-anniversary-light-of-day-concert\/"},"modified":"2025-01-20T18:02:32","modified_gmt":"2025-01-20T18:02:32","slug":"bruce-springsteen-makes-surprise-appearance-at-25th-anniversary-light-of-day-concert","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/bruce-springsteen-makes-surprise-appearance-at-25th-anniversary-light-of-day-concert\/","title":{"rendered":"Bruce Springsteen makes surprise appearance at 25th anniversary Light of Day concert"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/syndication.abcaudio.com\/files\/2025-01-20\/Getty_BruceSpringsteen_012025.jpg\" alt><figcaption>Debra L Rothenberg\/Getty Images<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Bruce Springsteen<\/strong> hit the stage for the first time in 2025 Saturday night, making a surprise appearance at the 25th anniversary Light of Day concert at the Count Basie Theater in Red Bank, New Jersey, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.app.com\/story\/entertainment\/music\/2025\/01\/18\/light-of-day-bruce-springsteen-performs-jesse-malin\/77805333007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em><strong>Asbury Park Press<\/strong><\/em><\/a> reports.<\/p>\n<p>Springsteen\u00a0made his first appearance of the night joining New York City punk\u00a0fixture\u00a0<strong>Jesse Malin<\/strong> onstage, performing Malin\u2019s tracks \u201cBroken Radio\u201d and \u201cGlitter in the Gutter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Malin, who had a spinal stroke in 2023 that left him paralyzed from the waist down, later shared photos from the evening <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DFA4IlkJt3m\/?img_index=3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>on Instagram<\/strong><\/a>, noting the concert was \u201cone for the books.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Springsteen returned to the stage to join <strong>Willie Nile<\/strong> for a performance of \u201cOne Guitar\u201d and then\u00a0came back again for longtime friend<strong> Joe Grushecky<\/strong>\u2019s set, with Grushecky introducing The Boss as \u201cthe real governor of New Jersey.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During that set, Bruce performed \u201cDarkness on the Edge of Town\u201d and \u201cThe Promised Land,\u201d as well as \u201cPink Cadillac\u201d and \u201cSavin\u2019 Up,\u201d a Springsteen-penned song originally recorded by the late <strong>E Street Band<\/strong> member <strong>Clarence Clemons<\/strong>,\u00a0adding a joke about the \u201cfake news\u201d\u00a0reported by <em>Forbes<\/em> that he is now a billionaire.<\/p>\n<p>The Boss\u00a0closed the show with an acoustic rendition of \u201cThunder Road.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Springsteen has now performed at 12 Light of Day concerts, which raise money for Parkinson\u2019s disease research.
