Ringo Starr<\/strong> recently released the new country album Look Up<\/em>, co-written and produced by T Bone Burnett<\/strong>. It\u00a0features\u00a011 songs, with special guest appearances by Molly Tuttle<\/strong>, Billy Strings<\/strong>, Lucius<\/strong>, Larkin Poe<\/strong> and Alison Krauss<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t Ringo\u2019s first foray into country music, and he recently told reporters that he loves the genre because it\u2019s \u201cemotional music.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI’m quite an emotional person myself,\u201d he said, joking that \u201cin the ’50s, every country song was either the wife left, the dog’s dead or I need some money for the jukebox.\u201d<\/p>\n

And\u00a0it seems for Ringo, one of the emotions he hopes to convey with the record is joy, especially with\u00a0all the turmoil in the world.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think there’s always a need for music and there’s always a need for joy,\u201d he said, noting music has a wide reach because it \u201ctranslates into every language. It’s just peace and love.\u201d<\/p>\n

And for Burnett, there\u2019s no better person to bring that joy than Ringo.<\/p>\n

\u201cI’m fond of saying that nobody in the world has generated more goodwill than Ringo Starr in my lifetime,\u201d\u00a0Burnett\u00a0said, although he\u00a0suggests that Ringo\u2019s music is often thought\u00a0of as \u201clighthearted\u201d but it\u2019s so much more.<\/p>\n

\u201cI’ve been spending the last couple of months listening to everything he’s recorded ,or that\u2019s out that he’s recorded, and there’s a lot of very deep, serious stuff in there,\u201d he said. \u201cI mean, Ringo has paid his dues.\u201d<\/p>\n
