A new clip<\/strong><\/a> has just been released from the upcoming documentary Becoming Led Zeppelin<\/em>, which features surviving Led Zeppelin<\/strong> band members\u00a0Robert Plant<\/strong>, Jimmy Page<\/strong> and John Paul Jones<\/strong>\u00a0reminiscing about the first time they jammed together.<\/p>\n

Page\u00a0says\u00a0he suggested the first song they should play together was \u201cTrain Kept A-Rollin,\u201d a song popularized by Page’s former band\u00a0The Yardbirds<\/strong>, which\u00a0went on to become a concert staple for Led Zeppelin.<\/p>\n

\u201c(Jimmy said) \u2018Train Kept A-Rollin’ do you know it?\u2019 I said \u2018nope,\u2019\u201d Jones says in the clip. \u201cHe said, \u2018Well it\u2019s a\u00a012 bar and it\u2019s got this riff.\u2019 \u2018OK, count it in.\u2019 And that was it \u2013 the room just exploded.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe just kept playing it, doing like solo breaks and all the rest of it, and Robert\u2019s improvising,\u201d Page adds.<\/p>\n

When it came to hearing Plant\u2019s vocals for the first time, Jones notes, \u201cI\u2019d never heard anything like it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI was expecting this cool soul singer and there\u2019s this screaming maniac with this fantastic voice and fantastic range,\u201d he says. \u201cI was like, \u2018What [are] you doing up there? You\u2019ll hurt yourself, man!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

As for what the jam felt like for Plant, he says, \u201cIt was devastating, because it seemed like that had been what I\u2019d been waiting for.\u201d<\/p>\n

The clip also features archival audio from the band’s late drummer John Bonham<\/strong> talking about\u00a0the session.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, I was pretty shy,” he said. “The best thing to do when you\u2019re in a situation like that is not to say much and just to soldier along and suss it all out.\u201d<\/p>\n

Becoming Led Zeppelin<\/em>\u00a0will open exclusively in IMAX theaters on Feb. 7, with early access screenings in 18 markets starting Feb. 5. It will then hit theaters nationwide on Feb. 14.<\/p>\n
