A trailer for the new documentary Ladies & Gentlemen \u2026 50 Years of SNL Music<\/strong><\/em><\/a>\u00a0<\/em>has just been released, with The Rolling Stones<\/strong>\u2019 Mick Jagger<\/strong> making an appearance in the clip.<\/p>\n

The doc, co-directed by The Roots<\/strong>‘ Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson<\/strong>, delves into the history of the NBC late night comedy show’s musical guests, with the clip opening with musical guest introductions by Steve Martin<\/strong>, Madonna<\/strong>, Emma Stone<\/strong>, Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet<\/strong>, Chris Rock<\/strong> and more.<\/p>\n

Jagger offers up some comments on the craziness of performing on the live show, noting, \u201cYou have to run from the music sketch, and you\u2019re all covered in sweat, and change.\u201d He later talks about the \u201chuge library of performances\u201d associated with the show.<\/p>\n

The trailer also features interview bites from Foo Fighters<\/strong>\u2019 frontman Dave Grohl<\/strong>, Rage Against the Machine<\/strong>\u2019s Tom Morello<\/strong>, Jack White<\/strong> and more, with footage of SNL<\/em> performances from artists like Devo<\/strong>, Paul Simon<\/strong>, Nirvana<\/strong> and others.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s also a clip from Elvis Costello<\/strong>\u2019s infamous 1977 SNL<\/em> appearance where he opted to play the unapproved song \u201cRadio Radio\u201d instead of the planned \u201cLess Than Zero,\u201d which got him banned from the show. You can hear him saying, \u201cI\u2019m sorry ladies and gentlemen, there\u2019s no reason to do this song here.\u201d<\/p>\n

The three-hour Ladies & Gentlemen \u2026 50 Years of SNL Music<\/em> premieres Jan. 27 on NBC and will stream the next day on Peacock.<\/p>\n
