Bob Dylan<\/strong> has released 40 studio albums throughout the course of his career, which means he\u2019s come up with 40 unique album covers. But not all covers are created equal, and\u00a0Rolling Stone<\/strong><\/em><\/a> <\/em>magazine decided to take a deep dive\u00a0into those covers,\u00a0singling out the best and the worst of them.<\/p>\n

Writing about the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer\u2019s cover art choices, the mag notes, \u201cSometimes Dylan made iconic covers, both calculated and spontaneous; sometimes he treated them with the same regard as a grocery list.\u201d<\/p>\n

Topping the mag\u2019s list as the best Dylan album cover is 1963\u2019s The Freewheelin\u2019 Bob Dylan<\/em>, which features the rocker walking down a New York City street with his girlfriend Suze Rotolo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The mag notes photographer Don Hunstein<\/strong> nabbed an image \u201cfull of love and art and the endless possibilities of youth.\u201d<\/p>\n

Coming in at #2 is Dylan\u2019s 1965 album Bringing It All Back Home<\/em>, followed by 1965\u2019s Highway 61 Revisited<\/em>, 1976\u2019s Desire<\/em>\u00a0and 1966\u2019s Blonde on Blonde<\/em>.<\/p>\n

As for the worst of Dylan\u2019s 40 album covers, that distinction went to 1986\u2019s Knocked Out Loaded<\/em>, which features an image taken from the January 1939 cover of\u00a0Spicy-Adventure Stories <\/em>magazine.\u00a0Rolling Stone<\/em> describes the shot as \u201cungainly and amateurish.\u201d<\/p>\n
