{"id":31320,"date":"2025-01-28T12:02:42","date_gmt":"2025-01-28T12:02:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/boston-pops-plan-jerry-garcia-symphonic-celebration-for-june\/"},"modified":"2025-01-28T12:02:42","modified_gmt":"2025-01-28T12:02:42","slug":"boston-pops-plan-jerry-garcia-symphonic-celebration-for-june","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/boston-pops-plan-jerry-garcia-symphonic-celebration-for-june\/","title":{"rendered":"Boston Pops plan &#8216;Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration&#8217; for June"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/syndication.abcaudio.com\/files\/2025-01-27\/M_JerryGarciaBostonPops_012725.jpg\" alt><figcaption>Courtesy of the Boston Pops\/Photo Credit: Herb Greene<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The music of <strong>Grateful Dead<\/strong> founder <strong>Jerry Garcia<\/strong>\u00a0will be celebrated this spring by the <strong>Boston Pops<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>On June 3 and June 4, the Pops will host the<em>\u00a0Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration<\/em>, conducted by <strong>Keith Lockhart<\/strong>, with an all-star lineup including <strong>Jerry Garcia Band<\/strong> members <strong>Melvin Seals<\/strong> and <strong>Jackyln LaBranch<\/strong>, <strong>Dead &amp; Company<\/strong> and<strong> Allman Brothers Band<\/strong>\u00a0bassist <strong>Oteil Burbridge\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Joe Russo\u2019s Almost Dead<\/strong> member <strong>Tom<\/strong> <strong>Hamilton Jr<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>According to the announcement, the concerts will celebrate &#8220;60 years of the Grateful Dead and Garcia\u2019s enduring legacy.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Tickets for both shows go on sale Feb. 4 at 10 a.m. at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bso.org\/pops\/?utm_source=ActiveCampaign&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_content=2025%20Boston%20Pops%20Spring%20Season%2C%20May%208-June%207%2C%20Kicks%20Off%20a%20Yearlong%20Celebration%20of%20Keith%20Lockhart%20s%2030th%20Anniversary%20As%20Boston%20Pops%20Conductor&amp;utm_campaign=PRS%20-2025%20Spring%20Pops\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>BostonPops.org<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In other Dead-related news, in celebration of the band\u2019s 60th anniversary, ANALOGr has launched a new Dark Star Palace auction, with over 8,000 Grateful Dead items becoming available throughout the year, including backstage passes, posters, books, artwork and recordings.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the items in the auction include <strong>Phil Lesh<\/strong>\u2019s original #5 Dual Showman Bass Amplifier, an early replica of Garcia\u2019s \u201cAlligator\u201d guitar and a 35-foot tie-dyed stage backdrop.<\/p>\n<p>More info on the auction can be found at <a href=\"https:\/\/analogr.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>analogr.com<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Coming up next, the members of the Grateful Dead will be honored as the Recording Academy&#8217;s MusiCares Person of the Year on Friday. The gala, taking place at the Los Angeles Convention Center, will feature performances by such artists as\u00a0<strong>Fleetwood Mac<\/strong>\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Mick Fleetwood<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>The Police<\/strong>\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Stewart Copeland<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Sammy Hagar <\/strong>and<strong>\u00a0Dave Matthews<\/strong>,<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\ufeffas well as Dead &amp; Company,\u00a0which includes Dead members\u00a0<strong>Bobby Weir<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Mickey Hart\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Bill Kreutzmann\u00a0<\/strong>along with\u00a0<strong>John Mayer<\/strong>,<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Burbridge<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Jeff Chimenti<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2025, ABC Audio.
