The Rolling Stones<\/strong>\u00a0have paid tribute to singer Marianne Faithfull<\/strong>, who passed away Thursday at the age of 78.<\/p>\n

Frontman Mick Jagger<\/strong>, who was in a romantic relationship with Faithfull from 1966 to 1970, shared several photos of the singer\/actress\u00a0on Instagram<\/strong><\/a>, including\u00a0a couple of shots\u00a0of them while they were together.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am so saddened to hear of the death of Marianne Faithfull. She was so much part of my life for so long,\u201d Mick wrote. \u201cShe was a wonderful friend, a beautiful singer and a great actress. She will always be remembered.\u201d<\/p>\n

Keith Richards<\/strong>\u00a0shared a photo of him and Faithfull toasting with a champagne glass and teacup, writing<\/strong><\/a>, \u201cMy heartfelt condolences to Marianne\u2019s family! I am so sad and will miss her!!\u201d Ronnie Woods<\/strong> also shared<\/strong><\/a> a photo of them together, with the caption, \u201cMarianne will be dearly missed. Bless her xx\u201d<\/p>\n

Faithfull\u2019s first U.S. hit was “As Tears Go By,” a song written by Jagger, Richards and Stones manager Andrew<\/strong> Loog Oldham<\/strong>, who actually discovered Faithfull at a party in 1964. The tune later became a top 10 hit for the Stones. Faithfull, often considered one of Jagger’s muses, claimed to have inspired such Stones songs as \u201cYou Can\u2019t Always Get What You Want” and \u201cWild Horses.\u201d<\/p>\n

Also paying tribute to\u00a0Faithfull is Metallica<\/strong>,\u00a0who thanked her for her contribution to their song, \u201cThe Memory Remains,\u201d from their 1997 album Reload<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you, Marianne\u2026For the good times For your kindness For the great stories For your fearlessness,\u201d they wrote on Facebook<\/strong><\/a>. They also thanked her for her \u201cincredible and unique contribution to our music, and for always being so willing to join us in performing it\u2026and partake in the ensuing shenanigans! Rest in Peace.\u201d<\/p>\n
