Marc Cohn<\/strong> has revealed that he\u00a0has Parkinson’s disease, but the “Walking In Memphis” singer says he’s not letting it keep him from performing for his fans.<\/p>\n

Marc writes<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0on Instagram, “About 5 years ago, I was diagnosed with Parkinson\u2019s disease. I waited this long to tell you about the diagnosis because I needed time to process the unsettling news myself. But the good news is this: I\u2019m doing everything I can to stave off Parkinson’s progression, and with those efforts, I have been able to continue playing shows for you all.”<\/p>\n

He continues, “Some nights have been more difficult than others, but there were moments of healing and deep gratitude for my ability to stand at the microphone and continue to do the job I love so much.”<\/p>\n

“These past few years have been a time of reflection and a reminder of the preciousness of every moment. Thank you for making my music part of your daily lives,” Marc adds. “I feel like I’ve been a guest at your weddings, your delivery rooms, your first dances, and all the passages we all go through. This is just another passage\u2026 another opportunity to learn another dance.”<\/p>\n

He notes that he plans on “continuing to do shows for as long as possible,” ending with an invitation to “come meet us on the road somewhere.”<\/p>\n

This isn’t the first time the Grammy-winning artist has faced a health challenge. In 2005 he was shot in the head during an attempted carjacking, but amazed doctors by emerging relatively unscathed. The carjacker was sentenced to 36 years in prison in 2006.<\/p>\n
