\u201cIt\u2019s a mentor story, like The Apprentice<\/em>,\u201d he says, referring to the Donald Trump<\/strong> film that earned Strong a best supporting actor Oscar nomination for playing Roy Cohn<\/strong>. \u201cBut if Roy is Mephistopheles, Jon is a force of light.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSpending time with Bruce and Jon and communing with Bruce\u2019s music, which is a gospel of hope and faith and love, as opposed to a gospel of hatred and mendacity and nihilism, which is what Roy was, it was a tonic,” he adds. “It lifted me out of the darkness.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for his co-star\u00a0Jeremy Allen White<\/strong>, who plays\u00a0The Boss in the film, Strong says he \u201ctransformed brilliantly into Bruce. He sang brilliantly.\u201d<\/p>\n

Deliver Me From Nowhere<\/em>, directed by Scott Cooper<\/strong>, follows Springsteen\u2019s efforts to make his 1982 solo album Nebraska<\/em>. The film is based on Warren Zanes<\/strong>‘ book Deliver Me from Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen\u2019s Nebraska<\/em>.<\/p>\n
