{"id":31463,"date":"2025-02-15T00:03:03","date_gmt":"2025-02-15T00:03:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/roy-orbison-biopic-in-the-works\/"},"modified":"2025-02-15T00:03:03","modified_gmt":"2025-02-15T00:03:03","slug":"roy-orbison-biopic-in-the-works","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/roy-orbison-biopic-in-the-works\/","title":{"rendered":"Roy Orbison biopic in the works"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/syndication.abcaudio.com\/files\/2025-02-14\/Getty_RoyOrbison_021425.jpg\" alt><figcaption> Goedefroit Music\/Getty Images<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A new movie about the late <strong>Roy Orbison<\/strong> is in the works.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/music\/news\/roy-orbison-biopic-due-from-bohemian-rhapsody-producer-1236307329\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em><strong>Variety<\/strong><\/em><\/a> reports that Orbison\u2019s family has teamed with Compelling Pictures for a biopic and a documentary on the Rock &amp; Roll Hall of Famer, best known for such hits as \u201cOh, Pretty Woman\u201d and \u201cCrying.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>According to the trade, the feature film is being described as \u201ca romance more than a traditional biopic,\u201d telling the story of Orbison\u2019s relationship with his wife and manager,\u00a0<strong>Barbara<\/strong>, who helped guide his comeback in the &#8217;80s.<\/p>\n<p>The film, with the working title <em>You Got It<\/em>, after Orbison\u2019s posthumous 1989 hit single, will be produced by <strong>Denis O\u2019Sullivan<\/strong>, who produced the<strong> Queen<\/strong> biopic<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><em>Bohemian Rhapsody,<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Jeff Kalligheri<\/strong>, who produced the <strong>Whitney Houston<\/strong> biopic\u00a0<em>I Wanna Dance with Somebody.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Orbisons are elated to find the perfect partners in Compelling Pictures for the Roy Orbison biopic,\u201d Orbison\u2019s sons said in a statement. \u201cDenis and Jeff\u2019s vision for this journey through Roy\u2019s life is incredible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Orbison passed away in December 1988 at the age of 52. In addition to his solo career, he had several hits as a member of the <strong>Traveling Wilburys<\/strong>, which also featured <strong>George Harrison<\/strong>, <strong>Tom Petty<\/strong> and <strong>ELO<\/strong>\u2019s <strong>Jeff Lynne<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Orbison\u2019s many accolades include being a member of the Rock &amp; Roll Hall of Fame, Songwriters Hall of Fame, Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and Musicians Hall of Fame.
